Math Reflection

I choose Covering and Surrounding because it taught me a lot about perimeter and area! It’s very helpful because if you need to put carpet down or you have to fence your yard you could always refer back to it! The formula for the perimeter is L+L+W+W and the formula for the area is by LxW!

I learned many things from the unit! I learned how to find area and perimeter. I also learned when you might need to know area and perimeter! You could use it for tiling, fencing, and carpeting; there are also MANY different things!
The concepts in that unit impact your life because if you do tiling for a living you have to know what the area is. You need to know that so you know how many tiles you might need. There are also many jobs that include using area and perimeter!

While working with Cover and Surrounding investigation 1 included; Designing Bumper Cars. In investigation 2 it was; Changing Area, Changing Perimeter. Investigation 3 was; Measuring Triangles! In investigation 4 it was; Measuring Parallelograms. In investigation 5; Measuring Irregular Shapes and Circles! My favorite investigation was investigation 3 because I found measuring triangles pretty interesting!

  1. Area is how many blocks or space there is inside the shape! Perimeter is the distance along the outside of the shape!
  2. It is possible if the area to be the same and the perimeters are different because you can have an equal square and the area is 25 and the perimeter is 20! The next shape is going to be a square but there it is going to be missing one square then take that square and add the square that you just took off to one of the sides and your perimeter will be 22.
  3. You can find the area of a rectangle by multiplying the length by with! It works because if the length is 7 and the with is 9 then the area will equal 63.
  4. You can find the area because you can multiply the length by with and you will get the area
E.X. The with is 10 and the length is 6 so the area will be 60!
